There are many times in our lives where we should apply wisdom and learn to crawl before we walk. Drink milk before learning to eat whole food. Start at the basics before trying professional work.
But there are also times when instead of crawling, we need to run. God call me to run. God you are calling me to run. God I am going to run.
Watch me run, watch me go, will I stop? Who will ever know …
She’s so strong that nothing can hold her down.
Nothing but the weight that keeps her feet planted to the ground.
She tries to move, but suffocates from the walls,
the walls that are closing in on her world-causing her to fall.
To fall away from her dreams and all that keeps her alive.
She begins to breathe hard, and slowly begins to die.
But just like the phoenix, in the end she will rise.
For her dreams are more powerful than anything seen with eyes.
So break those chains girl to live free and sing.
Keep those dreams alive so you can one day grow wings.
Wings so you can fly, somewhere, anywhere, but here.
Tonight is the night, lets live our dreams and fly away from fear.
I was inspired to write Open Sea one day driving home listening to Oh, Sleeper. Micah’s lyrics are just so well written, like a story. I hope to one day write songs similar to his style. Open Sea is pretty much a metaphor about my conversion to Christianity 3 years ago. A Captain and his sailor’s stuck in the Open Sea, with storms surrounding them about to die. They have no one around to help them. The only option that’s left (ironically true in most of our lives) is to call out to God for help, thus believing in God and Jesus.
I find it interesting that in most of our lives, we wait to cry out to God as the last possible option; as if we want to try everything first-so we can avoid being subjected to God and being a Christian. Ha, it’s so funny. We are designed by God, yet we try and run from Him like we can run away from His control and power.
